Craigslist is a great web site to find all types of things, and if you use the Internet at all, you have definitely heard of Craigslist, but just how safe is this site? The site’s executives are saying in light if past events they plan to tighten security for people who are posting ads to hopefully avoid any future issues like they have had in the past.
Jim Buckmaster, Craigslist CEO, says:
“Because we do capture identifying information, including credit card info and telephone numbers, and because we are so cooperative with law enforcement, we think that criminals are getting the message that choosing Craigslist for criminal activity is an extremely unwise choice, since you’re basically guaranteeing that you’ll be quickly caught.
“And we’ve seen that in a few unfortunate recent cases. But, to the extent that they’re not aware, we hope they’ll soon become abundantly aware that Craigslist is a very poor choice for criminal activity.”
